Spring Wildflowers of California

The spring wildflowers of California are a sight to behold. When conditions align, the blooms can be so incredible it's hard to believe they're real. Every ten years or so, a superbloom may occur. After years of drought, that winter brought record precipitation, transforming arid landscapes into verdant paintings. The timing, amount, and favorable temperatures led to wildflowers blooming across nearly the entire state.

Photographing spring wildflowers is one of my favorite subjects. Once reports surface, I canvas Southern California from early spring through summer, chasing the color.
