The Dalles Mountain Ranch wildflowers were past peak when we first visited, but we discovered it was actually prime time and ended up returning three times to shoot the arrowleaf balsamroot and lupine. I couldn't get enough of this place!
The Dalles Mountain Ranch, part of Columbia Hills State Park, is an amazing location, especially in spring with its incredible wildflower blooms. Beyond the flowers, there are old ranch buildings, an abandoned rusted car, sweeping vistas of the Columbia River, rolling hills divided by creeks, lush oak trees, and many varieties of blooms that delight the senses. This photograph was taken outside the ranch as we wandered down one of the valleys and found these oaks surrounded by a vast display of color.
