Carrizo Plain Wildflowers

Dense displays of hillside daisies, goldfields, and fiddlenecks blanket the slopes of Carrizo Plain in 2026.

Carrizo Plain National Monument transforms in spring after good winter rains, with wildflowers creating vibrant patterns across the Temblor and Caliente Ranges. Hillsides glow with daisies and goldfields, while the valley floor shows scattered color — a stunning Mojave grassland scene.

I scouted the area during peak bloom, finding dense patches on west-facing slopes and Caliente Range areas. The light was perfect, with soft shadows accentuating the flowers against the rolling landscape. These moments are rare and fleeting, often lasting only a few weeks.

For a short time, Carrizo Plain becomes a living canvas of color. This photograph captures the magic of the 2026 bloom, bringing the ephemeral beauty straight to your home as fine art.
