El Matador beach, in my opinion, is the most scenic beach in Southern California. It is little north of the famous Zuma beach on the Pacific Coast Hwy in Malibu. There are collection of sea stacks, caves and rock formations which make this beach unique, something that you would normally expect off the Oregon Coastline. The sea stacks and caves make for amazing photos. That afternoon, I checked the conditions and it looked favorable for a decent sunset. So, I headed down the 101 to Malibu to El Matador. When I arrived at El Matador, I realized the tide was high. The only problem with the high tide was there would be plenty of wave action against the cliffs. But took my chances and found my favorite sea stack. To my surprise, the clouds began lighting up in the sky in the richest of hues. That night at El Matador had the best sunset, the type photographer's envy.
