El Matador Beach

El Matador is a not-so-hidden secret on the California Coast north of Los Angeles. For some reason along El Matador Beach you can find several sea stacks that broke off and eroded from the nearby cliff, making for some dynamic compositions.

That December afternoon I headed down to El Matador Beach to shoot the winter sunset. Sure enough the sky lit up in the most incredible sunset I've seen. The burn lasted for at least a half an hour allowing plenty of time to capture the beautiful colors and hues. This was taken as the show was about over! I found this amazing sea stack with some cormorants enjoying the sunset as well. You can see why El Matador Beach is one of the best locations in Los Angeles to photograph sunsets.
