Mono County is one of the best locations in California to enjoy and photograph fall colors. Situated on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, it features stunning topography including rugged granite canyons, snow-melt streams and waterfalls, expansive pine forests, and western blue skies, with aspen groves that turn an amazing array of colors each fall. That chilly morning I woke up and headed up the road through groves of colorful aspens to reach this viewpoint of Sagehen Summit dressed in vibrant fall foliage. It was amazing watching the sun rise over this magical spot. Mono County is one of my favorite go-to places to photograph spectacular fall colors!
