Death Valley Flowers

In spring, when conditions are optimal, Death Valley blooms as the desert comes alive with incredible wildflowers. That year the display was particularly good. We ventured down washboard roads into the backcountry at Ibex Sand Dunes. Yellow coreopsis along the road was a promising sign, and the southern end of Death Valley was filled with the fragrant scent of sand verbena. To our surprise, we found a beautiful patch of pink sand verbena carpeting the dunes.

I was running around in the sand trying to find the perfect composition as sunset light began to glow. And then I found these sand verbena beauties.
