After spending a full day of photography in Banff National Park, we decided to head back the Vermilion Lakes after dinner to see if we could capture a moonrise. We made our way back to the third Vermilion Lake to the small pools. We were a little late on the moonrise as the moon was already high in the sky. The moonlight though illuminated the white snowy expanse with the iconic Mount Rundle in the background. The ice crystals sparked in the moonlight. I found an amazing curve in the snow and the ice which made for a cool composition. I opted for a longer exposure to blur the clouds.
