This is hands down one of the best sunsets I have ever seen on the Oregon Coast. We drove to Pistol River and found a vibrant patch of lupine flowers that were perfect for framing the scene. Their purple blooms glowed in the warm golden light as the sun set over the Pacific.
The southern coast delivered pure drama that evening. The sunset lasted a good half hour, with waves crashing on the dark sand and iconic sea stacks silhouetted against a fiery sky of oranges, pinks, and deep purples. The coastal lupine added an unexpected burst of foreground color that made the composition even more special. Pistol River's open beaches, wind-swept dunes, and offshore rocks offer endless golden-hour magic to photograph, especially when wildflowers align with the fading light. Moments like this feel dreamy and unforgettable, where the landscape, flowers, and sky all come together perfectly.
This photograph captures that exact magic. Imagine standing there with the breeze off the Pacific, the scent of lupine in the air, and the sky on fire. Bring that feeling and beauty of the Oregon Coast into your space every day.
