Malibu sunsets are some of the best in Southern California. The Pacific Coast Hwy winds along the edge to where the Santa Monica Mountains meet the Pacific Ocean, cutting through the glamorous town of Malibu, allowing for some spectacular coastline and amazing sunsets. That Malibu sunset was one of most incredible I’ve seen that year. Since there were wildflowers, I opted to head back to Malibu to one of my favorite spots out at Point Dume. Upon arriving I was excited to see that sure enough the yellow coreopsis was blooming! The whole hillside along the cliff overlooking the Malibu coastline were blooming with yellow flowers. Then as the sun set, the sky blew up in an incredible display of pastel colors as the sunset started. I rushed to edge of the cliff and scurried down a bit to capture this fresh arrangement of coreopsis as a foreground with a sweeping view of Pacific Ocean. I was photographing the sets of waves crashing into the beach as I noticed a whale swimming around the cove to top it off. To date that Malibu sunset was one of best I’ve photographed and experienced.
