When fall and winter collide in Yosemite it creates a magical moment known as snowliage. That November, a snow storm blanketed the remaining colorful fall foliage in white. As I was driving, I looked up and saw the iconic El Capitan glowing against a backdrop of snow-dusted dogwood trees and evergreens.
I pulled over at one of my favorite compositions just in time for sunset to capture the last alpenglow light hitting the massive granite face. It felt incredible to witness and photograph this rare winter scene in the valley.
This photograph captures that special snowliage moment when snow, granite, and lingering autumn colors aligned perfectly. Bring this Yosemite winter wonderland straight into your space so you can enjoy it all year.
