Lone Pine is know for it's great sunrises and sunsets. It's the small town close to the Alabama Hills with Mt Whitney and the Eastern Sierras to the West and the Inyo Mountains to the east which create some great weather conditions. It seems like I’m always rushing to shoot the sunset and barely made it to the Lone Pine in time with less than twenty minutes before sunset. Plus I had to change my plans because the clouds weren’t in the right direction so I had scramble to find something new. I had t minus ten minutes and counting as I could see the clouds overhead started to get some color. I drove out from Lone Pine down the dusty Movie Road and spotted the perfect place to shoot. Fortunately in the Alabama Hills there are plenty of great rocks and arches in all directions to shoot. I looked up and spotted an arch out in the distance and ran out there to photograph the spectacular sunset. I've never photographed this rock outcrop before and was happy to find a cool looking barrel cactus ready for the shooting.
